Williamson – Anglesey – EnduroKa

Ian was invited to join professional outfit Wolf Motorsport to compete in the EnduroKa 24 hour race, at the very picturesque circuit of Anglesey. Driving the famous ‘Pink Pig’, a Ford Ka with its livery a nod to the famous Porsche 917 race car, The team entered an impressive driver line up including two Ginetta Superup stars and it didn’t take Ian long to settle into new surroundings. Qualifying came, with Ian and the team posting a time that was good enough for a third place start, at a track new to him and the team.

The race started well for the team, running in the top five until the first pit stops began. The team were hit with a (harsh) pit infringement penalty, which dropped the team down but despite this the team worked back up the order with some fast and consistent times being posted. Ian took over in the car again for the night stint and by this time the rain had started to come in.

This hugely assisted the car, which had started to lose peak power. Post-race checks found the car to be 30% down on power. During this rain stint, which included a period behind the safety car due to near un-drivable conditions, Ian was consistently one of the fastest cars on the circuit, until the track started to dry out near the end of his stint. Even with the car lacking power the team continued to complete consistent lap times and Ian took the chequered flag, bringing the ‘Pink Pig’ home in a fantastic third position.

The whole team should be extremely proud of the fantastic result. Ian would like to say a big thank you to all at Wolf motorsport for making him feel immediately apart of their wonderful team and for providing a fantastically set up and competitive car. A big thank must also go to all the marshals and officials, who put on and maintained a great event.
