Katies Mongolian Rally 2022
This week MPMC member Katie Shipp be hoping to take part in the Mongol Rally 2022, driving from London to Tbilisi in Georgia if the car is ready in time.
For those unfamiliar, this is a challenge to drive a s**t car across ridiculous terrain, this year travelling between London and Georgia, collecting inconvenient checkpoints along the way.
Katie has bought a 53bhp 2001 Fiat Seicento 1.1 Sporting (with Abarth styling kit) that has some rather unusual mods, below are some pictures and you’ll find more updates regarding her journey on Instagram @need_abarth.
In the past few weeks they have had a new head gasket, timing belt, water pump, thermostat removed and the exhaust has been proper bodged and continues to bring new problems each day that passes. The challenge has effectively already begun.
During the trip, Katie and the team aim to raise as much cash for the DEC Ukrainian Humanitarian Appeal as possible. Yep, you guessed it, this is where we unashamedly suggest you may wish to donate to this cause, in exchange for laughing at their displeasure. Yes, they’d be doing the trip anyway, but we may as well make it worthwhile, hey and the DEC Appeal needs no introduction.
