The aim of the Group is to promote and enjoy green laning in accordance with GLASS regulations and to enhance off road driving skills for 4x4 and motorcycle members of the club.
There will be 4 green laning/Off road events each year.
Laning is hard to come by between months of October and April due to winter byway closures. So other forms of off roading will be utilised in this time.
All 4x4 vehicles and most motorcycles will be able to take part, this is non competitive but educational, with the opportunity for lessons in off road driving and navigational skills.
Under no circumstances should any driver be left on a green lane on their own, the Group leader/leaders will always account for everyone and we will have our own recovery system in place, just in case people get stuck in the mud.
Although Green lanes are free to drive, there will be a small fee for each vehicle to assist us in paying of maps of the areas we use and recovery equipment for group leaders.
Each Group of vehicles will be lead by an experienced off road driver and navigator, that is able to recover people safely and effectively without putting anyone at any unnecessary risk. Group leaders will be selected by the 4x4 secretary and green laning club organiser. Vehicles will be in contact via the use of radio equipment.
Its about getting out and enjoying the countryside and the beauty of the English places of interest. Laning days and events will be held throughout the country and will last between 1 and 3 days.
