This year, our friends at Autosport Magazine and Haymarket Publishing gave us 50 guest passes to the Autosport International Racing Car Show 14-17th January. This show is the No1 “must attend” event each year for many involved in the motor sport industry. I was there at the NEC, Birmingham on the first day to get my annual fix...

Our guest passes were valid for any day of the show including the Trade Only days before the weekend public show. The trade days are great as they feature the additional Racecar Engineering show where all the smaller specialist companies are represented. Here you can meet companies who manufacture ultra specific racing parts such as carbon fibre propshafts for Subaru rally cars and super light aluminium cylinder heads.

The glamorous part of the show is open on trade days too and this is where the cars and motorbikes are displayed, along with clothing, motor-homes, paddock equipment, tools, and pretty much everything and anything motorsport.

Also worthy of a mention are the lycra clad beauties that were out in force draping themselves over absolutely everything. Sex still sells just in case shiny exotic cars and big engines arn’t quite enough on their own.

If you are coming up after reading this, be prepared for extortionate prices for drinks and snacks. I bought a Tuna panini and a coke for just shy of £7! But that said, saving the full £29 on the cost of entry more than compensates for daylight robbery, so I am not moaning.

I took a few snaps myself but please send me any good ones of yours and I will display them on this page. I apologise for the lack of the aforementioned lycra in my photos, I found the girls slightly intimidating and I was too shy to point my camera at them.

A massive thank you once again to Autosport and Haymarket. Tony Tobias, you are a legend.
